Here’s a simple diagram Lyme Disease.
I just lied.
Don’t be mislead, there is no simple way to explain Lyme Disease.
I share this info because for most of my life I didn’t have any idea what Lyme was. I mean, how seriously can you take a disease that’s named after a citrus fruit? Really? Aaaand it’s spelled wrong… but I’ll try not to judge you if you missed that.
This is the “viewer friendly” version–there are hundreds of additional symptoms and types of diseases that are similar to Lyme. And it’s called “The Great Imitator” because is mimics many other diseases and conditions. (Hello Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, MS…. blah blah). Add that to the fact most sufferers have multiple “co-infections” (babesia, bartonella, erlichiosis, parasites, etc.)
How do you like that? I bet you thought it was making sense until I threw that bit in. Yeah, sorry folks. If it’s confusing for me, and I HAVE it, you better believe it’s hard to understand. Like a math problem with too many problems and factors and stupid letters… I hate math.
Lyme Disease is (in most cases) a hidden illness. But it is real, and it is serious. You may not see symptoms on the outside, and Lyme sufferers get very good at hiding our symptoms and our misery. Taking care of our health and fighting this illness goes beyond a full time job. I have the highest respect for people fighting chronic illness, especially hidden illness. I don’t mention this to get a reaction out of you or push you to pity me or whatever, it is simply the truth. We fight hard in order to live. Some days are harder than others. But we’re still here, and we’re still fighting.
My personal daily “battle armor” involves makeup, naps and coffee.
Notice here I have coffee…. and am smiling….. yes, coffee is good.
